A masked Aadhaar shows only the last 4 digits of your Aadhaar number, for example XXXX XXXX 9012. UIDAI says it can be used wherever your Aadhaar is needed only as proof of identity, such as hotel check-ins, rental agreements or job applications, so the full number does not have to be handed out.

Open the myAadhaar portal
Go to myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in, UIDAI’s official site, and choose “Download Aadhaar”.

Enter your Aadhaar number, Enrolment ID or VID
Type the number and the captcha shown on screen.

Verify with OTP
UIDAI sends a one-time password to the mobile number registered with your Aadhaar. Enter it.

Choose the masked version
Tick the option for a “masked Aadhaar” before you download. Without it you get the full number.

Download and open the PDF
Save the e-Aadhaar PDF and open it with the password below.
Masked Aadhaar PDF password
Password format:
First 4 letters of your name (CAPITALS) + year of birth (YYYY)
Example: Priya Sharma, born 1990 → PRIY1990
Example: Rahul Kumar, born 1995 → RAHU1995
Use your name exactly as it is printed on the Aadhaar. If the password does not work, check the spelling on your card and the year of birth.
