MaskAadhaar is a free tool for hiding the Aadhaar number or PAN number on a card before you share a copy of it. It is run by Shilpa, an independent developer based in Delhi, India.
Not a government website. MaskAadhaar is an independent private service. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to UIDAI, the Income Tax Department or the Government of India. The official Aadhaar portal is uidai.gov.in.
Why it exists
A copy of an Aadhaar card gets asked for everywhere: hotels, landlords, employers, SIM shops, courier forms. Most of those places only need to see that the card is yours, not the full 12-digit number. UIDAI’s answer is the masked Aadhaar, which shows only the last 4 digits, but getting one from UIDAI needs an OTP on your registered mobile, and many people only have a photo or an old PDF. MaskAadhaar lets you mask the copy you already have, in a few seconds.
How it works
The masking runs entirely in your web browser. When you choose a file, it is read on your own phone or computer, the number is found with text recognition, the first 8 digits are covered, and the masked copy is saved back to your device. The file is never uploaded to our servers, so there is nothing for us to store, lose or leak. The same tool masks the middle of a PAN number.

How it is free
The browser tools are free with no daily limit and no sign-up. The site is supported by advertising, which is described in the privacy policy along with how to turn advertising cookies off. Businesses that need masking inside their own systems can use a paid API; ask through the contact form.
Accuracy
The tool shows a preview before you download, and you should always check it. Text recognition can miss a number on a blurred, dark or heavily angled photo. If it misses one on a clear copy, please report it; that is how the detection gets better.
